I very much enjoyed this perspectivehttps://points.datasociety.net/you-think-you-want-media-literacy-do-you-7cad6af18ec2. There are many epistemological razors people use to sculpt a reality tunnel that fits with what Terence McKenna refers to as the ‘felt presence of immediate experience’. OR fits enough to allow you to get out of bed and keep going to your drudgery job without using your last hundred dollars to buy a cheap gun and just go on a rampage. Which seems to be a thing lately, doesn’t it?
Consider when asking why no one trusts the ‘experts’, the fact that, left, right or center, people’s experience doesn’t come close to squaring with the narrative fed by those with the money to fund glitzy news channels. Infowars, CNN, MSNBC, BBC, RT. The New York Times. Take any of them, then get a random cross section of 100 Americans, Swedes, Iranians, Indonesians, Malians, &c. adn you will not get even fifty percent agreement about any ‘news’ story published by any of them. It seems to me that everyone on the dreaded ‘alt-right’ is taking their cues from Noam Chomsky’s ‘Manufacturing Consent’. And they (‘they’ being many times proud Hitler heiling Nazis)often refuse to admit this approach to media literacy does indeed have its origin in a Jewish MIT Professor whose linguistic studies were originally funded by Office of Naval Intelligence as part of a greater effort to understand how codes work. And who has taken many lumps for defending the downtrodden. And defending the right of Hitler Heiling Nazis to have their say, deeply offensive as it may be to so many.
Consider also the ‘red pill’: How did you feel when you discovered Gloria Steinem was acting as a witting asset for the CIA when she was building the ‘women’s lib’ movement? Or that Gordon Wasson, who turned us all on to the ‘shrooms that were rocket fuel for the counterculture of the ’60s was deeply connected to the dark heart of the nexus of white shoe law firms, banking houses, industrialists and military adventurers that gave us the CIA. And that Aldous Huxley, who warned us so explicitly about the dangers of a perfect dictatorship of chemically lobotomized citizens, was a proponent of LSD use as a tool for self therapy and self exploration. And LSD was used widely in MK ULTRA, MK OFTEN and Project Monarch to create exactly the pliant, chemically pacified serviles that factions in the ruling caste desired. The contradictions are legion. And no matter who your hero- You’re gonna find out they are not perfect.
Jacques VallĂ©e recognized when studying the mystery of unexplainable aerial phenomena that what is vital to ask is not what exactly what these things are or whence they come, but what is their effect? The tangible effect is to corrode belief systems and warp epistemological structures. The term ‘Conspiracy Theory’ was, indeed invented by CIA as a recommended linguistic meme to tar those who question the ruling class version of important events. If anyone thinks that only 8chan pseudo fascists know how to deploy memes in propaganda war, look no further than an interne search for ‘dangers of conspiratorial thinking’.
We now live in a time where factions in the ruling classes are conducting a no-holds-barred war in heaven to actualize their competing visions of humanity’s post cold war future. Too many superfluous people living on a dwindling resource base on a fragile planet in a dangerous star system (The biological clock has been totally reset at least 3 times.) There need to be answers. And there are. They are just as contradictory as the way we in the servile classes grasp their utility and moral value.
As J.R. “Bob” Dobbs says, “Pull the wool over your own eyes. That way you know there’s wool.”
